I've been wanting to do a declutter and refocus my collection on products I'm actually going to wear and this series has been SO HELPFUL in decision making!! I'm think now not in terms of "do I like it?" alone, but "how many opaque products like this also I need?" "How much contrast does this offer??" - it's really helped me recognize the value in holding on to something I might only use a few times a month, but are really critical to that particular look while also seeing the value in considering other factors than tone or shade. I love both sides, too. The deeper saturation for a more elegant nighttime look and the less saturated side for a daytime, fun look. I have opposing colors in my eyes. It makes it really hard to figure out what colors to place next to them. I have given up on color and just do neutrals now.

I want to believe that so bad but any variation of orange and copper on my eyelids looks awful on me and makes me look ill 😷😅

Off to purchase the Flavedo & Albedo cool bronze eyeshadow. It is giving me holy grail vibes. My long time love UD YDK was discontinued years ago when UD reformulated their eyeshadows and I have yet to find a replacement that “does it for me”. I love shimmery taupes and bedroom browns. Does anyone remember an old Chanel single eyeshadow called “Vega”, my God I loved that color and Stila “Grace”, the powder, not the liquid. I miss them.

I’m going to try this with the Merit lipstick in classic. Fingers crossed! I need a hex code matcher for lip sticks with shades available in the US.

Honestly, your eyes as in the way you look at makeup and color, might just be too sensitive for french girl makeup XD in fact I do think that effortless and messy do often go together in this type of look and vibe of the french girls, and the difference is, does it make you feel confident. Sadly, the answer isn't yes for everybody ;) Well not really sad, lots of us just have a different style and enjoy makeup too much to be as paired back with it as that proverbial french girl! Edit: the notion of "masculin-féminin" btw is a super important principle of the french style, so boyish together with girly is actually a super french vibe! no need to copy specifically violette or jeanne who are yes, super femme ;)

so true! I discovered recently that my best beige/brown everyday lip colour is a PURPLE. In fact, all my best lip colours are some version of PURPLE. So I threw out a ton of "brown " lipsticks and i couldn't be happier. Now, less than 5% of readymade lipsticks out there are PURPLE -- but now that I know, I will never go back to all those pinks reds and browns ! BTW I also discovered that my best foundation is a whitish pink and my best contour colour is a plain yellow with a breath of grey. Seriously. Every other foundation, no matter how "cool" it seems, turns hideous ORANGE on my skin. So I mix my own now in a little dish everyday. I always said I couldn't be bothered to do that, but seeing the result, it's so worth it!

I have noticed that my skin cancel out everything pink and if the pink is mixed with brown , the color that shows is brown. Sometimes yellow brown . It’s so frustrating and I don’t know what in my skintone that cancel out the pink .

Hi, your makeup is truly beautiful, but having lived in France for years I can tell you that on a daily basis, French style is tinted powder, blush, mascara and a very thin liner OR red lipstick. Switching from day to night, they’d add a flick to their liner and red lipstick. That’s really it. Only if they’re makeup addict, they’d do eyeshadow. They’re very minimamistic :)

I just had this recommended to me, and I’m so glad to see it. Explaining *why* things do what they do, and how they can be used. Doesn’t help that these “rules” were often made with a narrower demographic of consumers in mind LOL Everyone straight up says I have cool undertones because I have “pink” skin… and thus, when I get any kind of makeup done by other people, they seem to go by that rule. Thing is, I’m hella neutral, but I have skin issues that make me super pink and red at random points when I’m out and about. I can wear what I want, but when they matched ALL of my makeup to random “rules” around it, I felt *awful.* I use super fair-colored makeup that borders on gray. My eyes are a bluish green, but insanely dark, so using that for reference is useless. But, of course, “blue” eyes, “pink” skin, and auburn hair? Well that’s obvious, with rules, right? Nuh uh. Nope. Wrong answer, folks. It ain’t about rules, it’s about tips that you gather, and figure out what looks good on *your* face, with *your* coloration, and makes you feel good in your skin. Learn color theory, and don’t put yourself in a freaking box. ❤

I have zero idea whom this lady is but she ends up in my feed periodically. Probably because I try on occasion to figure out make up 😅. However, as a professional with over 25 years in the biochemistry field and an advanced degree in the same, I have to point out that the level of misinformation presented regarding organic foods, gluten in the US vs elsewhere, pesticides, etc. is quite profound. This nice woman needs to stay in her beauty and make up lane and apologize for misleading her viewers.
